What To Pack For A Beach Holiday

Packing for an island vacation can be quite overwhelming. For most of us, packing a suitcase is a last-minute thing. We tend to get so preoccupied with planning the itinerary, lodging, expenses, etc., that we forget to pack some essential things. The trick is to plan ahead and make a list of all the paraphernalia you will need for the beach. Traveling light always helps, so stick to the essential items and lose the maybe’s. This gives you extra room in your luggage for gifts and souvenirs to take back home.

Clothes: The good thing about the beach is you won’t have to carry any woolens, a light jacket is sufficient for when the evenings are nippy. For top wear, bring light-colored cotton shirts, tees, tops, or dresses, and bottom wear should consist of shorts or skirts. One pair of jeans or trousers is good to have as well for any special occasion. 

Footwear: Flip-flops are a must-have for the beach, and one pair of comfortable walking shoes are good enough. The shoes will come in handy when you are out exploring. 

Beachwear: Packing swimsuits or swimming trunks are a no brainer when on a beach holiday. But the key is to carry a minimum of 2 pairs, so you always have a fresh one while the other one is drying. A hat or cap will be an excellent addition to your beach attire as it will help cover you from the sun. 

Toiletries: Always pack a good sunblock or sunscreen with high SPF content. The sun can be very harsh on the tropical islands. The rest of the necessary toiletries like soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, etc., will be provided at your place of accommodation. Don’t forget to take your toothbrush with you too. Do pack a mosquito or insect repellant, wet wipes, as well.

First-Aid Kit: Generally, hotels and resorts have this covered; however, there’s no harm in carrying a few basic first-aid, such as – bandages, cotton, earbuds, an ointment, and vitamins.

Miscellaneous: There are a few other necessary things that will be very useful during your vacation. Good pair of sunglasses, laundry bags or pouches, towels, portable speakers, and a book are some indispensable must-haves. If you don’t have a waterproof or water-resistant cell phone, then you should take a waterproof protective cover too. And a medium-sized waterproof backpack or beach bag to carry your belongings for when you are planning to spend the day at the beach.
